What to Do If the Camera Can’t Capture Your Full Body

Delay, lag and low frame rate

Camera Won’t Initialize?

Make sure the camera is properly connected and not being used by another application.

The Link does not support any form of virtual webcam. You must use a physical webcam.

Some webcam utilities create a virtual camera to apply filters — for example, Elgato Camera Hub is a known conflict. This can prevent The Link from recognizing your actual camera. In that case, uninstalling the webcam utility might be necessary to restore normal use.

Check Windows Privacy Settings:

Finally check if the lens cap is open 😄

Small camera button on the main interface

The first dropdown lets you select your camera. The Link remembers your last selected device.

Avoid selecting any virtual camera in this list.

Mirror Mode

Mirror mode is enabled by default—it makes The Link’s camera image appear like a mirror or selfie. Disabling mirror mode shows the actual camera view.

Rotating camera

If you mount your webcam vertically, use the rotate button to rotate the feed 90°. The Link will attempt to auto-adjust pose models to match the new orientation.

⚠️ However, if you’ve loaded a complex model, rotating the camera can cause many elements to shift. It’s often necessary to re-capture your poses and readjust your hitboxes. For this reason, it’s strongly recommended to decide your camera orientation before building any advanced model.

Players' Choice

NexiGoN980P

Ultra wide-angle 120°, can player closer to the monitor

Runs 60 FPS at 720p

Good price about 50 bucks

At present, everyone is quite satisfied with this product, but technically you can search for any webcam with a wide-angle view and can run 720P at 60FPS.⚠️ Note: Cameras with extremely wide-angle lenses may cause obvious image distortion

Developer Camera:

I originally developed The Link using the Logitech C1000E webcam. In theory, this camera can 100% replicate my setup. But it's a bit expensive and only has a 90° field of view (FOV)

Logitech Brio C1000E

100% replicate MasonX's setup

Relatively Expensive

90° FOV (requires larger room space)

More sensitive to lighting

Will Moving My Camera Affect My Existing Model?

Pose Recognition:

As long as the camera is still front facing the player, your model should not be affected.

Hitboxes

Camera movement changes the position of all touch frames, so yes—it will definitely affect them.

What if I’m not sure whether my camera has moved?

You can always check your visible hitboxes to quickly readjust the camera by eye.

But if you want to be 100% certain the camera hasn’t moved—and be able to fully restore its position—go to:

Settings → Room Sketch

This will generate a sketch of your room, allowing you to precisely restore the original camera placement later.

My Setup Is Decent, But FPS Is Still Low?

Quick Check:

If using multiple displays, make sure The Link runs on your primary display.

If you're using a laptop with a TV, set the TV as the primary screen.

Disable Windows Game Mode or any third-party "Game Boost" tools. These may mistakenly throttle The Link.

Make sure no other software is forcing your webcam into high resolution—The Link only needs 1280×720 (720p).

Avoid using third-party webcam software to zoom or rotate the image. If needed, use The Link’s built-in rotation function.

Microphones

The Link automatically uses your system’s default microphone, so make sure it’s working

You may need to restart The Link after switching microphones.

Avoid desktop microphones with aggressive noise suppression—they can filter out your voice if you’re far from the mic (which is common in motion gaming).

For noisy environments or streaming, use a wireless headset with a mute switch or a professional wireless mic.
